Ashtanga Vinyasa

Tuesdays at 5:30PM

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a style of yoga developed in Mysore India by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and T. Krishnamacharya. It is said to have originated from the ancient text, the "Yoga Kuruntha." The emphasis of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is connecting movement and breath. The ‘Vi’ in Vinyasa is a prefix that adds an intensification to ‘Nyas’ (the root) meaning “to place.” Vinyasa can then be translated as “to place something in a special way." In Ashtanga Yoga, asanas are practiced in a fixed sequence with repetition built into the practice. Every movement, breath, and gaze is set, allowing for a more internal experience rather than wondering what comes next or what the teacher is instructing. Every movement has a correlating inhale or exhale with specific transitions to get in and out of each asana. The vinyasa in Ashtanga Yoga not only describes the order of the sequence, but also the specific way each asana is practiced and how each asana is linked to the next. This 60-minute dynamic flow will introduce students to the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary Series (1st Series).

Mindful Movement

Wednesdays & Fridays at 10:00AM

A practice especially meant for people who don’t want to or haven’t done yoga. We call it stretching :) Practice on a mat or in a chair. Basically a very slow, consistent warmup focusing on joint release with a little balancing and strengthening thrown in. Slow movement gives us a chance to move mindfully and tune into where our body is at that moment. Also a beneficial practice for a seasoned practitioner who isn’t afraid to go within.

The Roots Yoga Sequence

Wednesdays at 5:30PM

All are welcome, but some yoga knowledge is helpful for this advanced sequence. I will give cues as to where to end a pose for each level from novice to advance practice. There is opportunity to work on and learn inversions and alternate versions of standard yoga postures. The class follows a repeated sequence which enables practitioners to see how they are doing from one class to the next.

There are 54+ base poses with opportunities to add more. The classes starts at a relaxed pace, builds to a challenging standing sequence, then tapers off moving to seated and reclining postures to cool down. Classes end with a meditative Savasana

Yin Yoga

Wednesdays at 7:00PM

The perfect counterpart to a busy life or vigorous physical activity, Yin Yoga targets your deep connective tissue using compression and/or stretching to lengthen and remove blockages that may be impeding energy flow within the body.  Using Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy as a foundational principle, this slower and more meditative practice gives you space and time to turn your focus inward, to really notice the sensations of the mind and the body as you ‘undo’.

SloMoYoga

Thursdays at 4:30PM

There are ample benefits to be discovered in a slow yoga practice. In this class we will take our time to properly enter and align our bodies into classic asanas (poses). By slowing down, we are able to bring our bodies into a state of peaceful co-existence with our breath. In a world of constant demands on our time and effort, committing 1 hour to harmonize your inner and outer self will leave you feeling renewed and empowered.

All Levels Yoga

Fridays at 4:30PM & Saturdays at 8:30AM

A traditional Hatha yoga practice with cues for all levels of practitioners. We start with a warmup before moving to a more active practice. Expect instructions promoting a strong foundation and the “whys” for cues. Some knowledge of poses is helpful.

Yoga Nidra

Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month 7:00PM.
Online only

The practice of Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, guides our awareness from the external world to our inner environment.  As we systematically move into a deep state of rest, our senses, intellect, and mind  release tension.  Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practiced in a resting position that restores and supports our well-being. This class is offered online so that you may enjoy the restful benefits at home!

Men’s Yoga
Movement and Meditation

Saturdays at 10:15AM

Root, Grow, Build and Fly

These men’s only classes focus on the natural curves of the spine and movements which incorporate body weight training, yoga postures and meditation. Greg trains in the BowSpring method with creators Desi Springer and John Friend (founder of Anusara Yoga). 3. BUILD. predominant focus on core strength, twists, advancing postures and inversions. Advancing meditation breath work

4. FLY.
focus on transitioning postures into inversions, headstands and lightness. All levels welcome, but the more you practice the more you will progress.
